Calendar Flipping

As I was changing my calender page on my desk this morning, since I had been so neglegent to update it, I thought about several things.  As we flip that calendar, does it really dawn on us how we wish our life away.  If it is Monday, we can’t wait for Friday, and if it is Wednesday we can’t wait til Friday.  The hours and days in between just sort of get pushed out of the way, As if they are insignificant, and not important, .and all we can think about is Friday.  Maybe we also, treat people like that.  We can’t be bothered with people who waste our time. And yet a smile only takes a moment.

Someday we will be wishing we had those Tuesdays, Thursdays and Wednesdays.  Someday we will look back and wonder what could have happened to all of those years and all of that time? Just as we will look back and wish we had been kinder, perhaps, or given someone a second of our time.

I, myself looked at the day as I was flipping  the calendar to mark the day my upcoming vacation was going to arrive.

Oblivious to the fact that the 9 days before this event, I should cherish.  Perhaps something would happen and I wouldn’t be able to take that vacation.  Should I just dismiss the time I do have to enjoy today?

Or should I relish today like a fine cup of coffee, that is served to me when I rise to greet another day of my life. Another day I am allowed to take up space on this wonderful planet, another day to hug my grandchildren, and review the events of the previous day.  Looking forward to what surprises God has for me today. I always say we are God’s comic book.  He must laugh at us when he watches how we throw away the things he gives us becaue we are rushing to get what we want.

Soooo, when you wake up tomorrow and you may flip that page to the next page on your calendar, Review what happened yesterday, and what you  learned from yesterday, what gifts did you get and not pay attention to?

And when you start to write on this mornings page,  First put  # 1:  Enjoy all that is given to me today.

#2    Don’t let a minute pass me by, that I don’t cherish it.

(It may be the last one I get.)

#3  Make a differentce today!

I think as you do these things, when you flip that last page for the year, you will be a happier person, and a happier, more fulfilled soul
